# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • It tastes like you spent hours crafting something sophisticated when it actually takes five minutes.
  • The black currant flavor is complex enough to impress, but the lime keeps it from ever feeling heavy.
  • You can adjust the sweetness and tartness on the fly, making it completely your own.
02 -
  • The ratio of syrup to lime juice is crucial: too much syrup and it becomes cloyingly sweet, too much lime and it tastes medicinal.
  • Shaking versus stirring actually changes the texture here, and shaking creates a silkier mouthfeel that you won't get any other way.
03 -
  • Freeze your glasses at least 15 minutes ahead, or even for hours if you're planning a gathering.
  • Keep your gin and soda water in the fridge, not just the freezer, so they're already cold when you start mixing.
